HKAB with Brewing & Bottling on Sunday - A little less than a happy high

HKAB with Brewing & Bottling on Sunday
In my home, I have a case of IPA that needs a suitable sendoff, a batch of porter that needs to be bottled, and at least one fermenter that's begging me to be filled with proto-beer. Since I'm getting paid on Friday, all of this suggests that this weekend would serve well for HKAB and brewing.

At Pablo's suggestion, some of the entertainment on hand will take the form of Japanese "Giant Monster" movies. As an extra-special bonus, we may have Godzilla:Save the Earth, so we can experience the kaiju mayhem first hand. (Since I am a benevelent host, I'll even link you to a FAQ that will give you an idea of what this is all about. If someone can show me how to use burrowing attacks or Mothra effectively, I'll be much obliged.)

I haven't fully settled on type of brew yet, so if you have any wants/interests/curiosities, do please let me know. If I become fully stumped, I may do something crazy like prepping an ale for "cock ale." If you're so inclined, you can save me from this fate.

Since it's the Year of the Rooster, I figure it's our moral imperative to make a batch of cock ale before the lunar new year ends. Has to be done.

Everyone needs a little cock in their life.

The question is whether everyone needs a little cock in their beer. That's I seek to answer.

That's what I seek to answer, rather.

I assume that I can count on you to swallow some of this concoction?

I am working, and then attending an Irish celebration on Sunday, so I can't help with the brewing, but I would not be a man if I died before drinking cock ale.

Is this another part of the Llorena legend?
mittenstein From: mittenstein Date: March 9th, 2005 06:19 pm (UTC) (Link)
The Llorona legend is open to revision, so sure.

You are brave, sir Komos, but I cannot be party to such cock mangling.
;o)

so what's the deal, get together, watch/play bad* movies/games, and brew beer?

(* and by bad of course, I mean good.)

Yeah, that's pretty much it. HKAB began as "Hong Kong Action Breakfast" and just kind of grew from there. I'll probably make pancakes or waffles or something before noon, and at some point we'll probably order pizza. In the meantime, all sorts of things can happen.

Have I ever told you that you are one of the handful of people that make me think that going back to Boston could actually be kinda fun...

i know we haven't met, but bbbsg has mentioned your love of fine beer and brewing on several occasions. she has been wanting for sometime now for us to make it to one of your little shindigs, but sadly she'll be out of town this weekend. i, however, will not, and would be greatly delighted to attend, as long as you're ok with having me.

Sure! ^_^ I don't know who all is coming yet, but we should have at least a handful of souls. Anything could happen.

Just drop me an email at ppb at gis dot net and I'll forward details.

King Geedorah's Take Me to Your Leader should be your soundtrack for the weekend.

I've got this weird mix of the Japanese and American names for kaiju kicking around in my head, and sometimes it makes me crazy.

Godzilla - American - check
Mothra - American - though I love singing the Mosura theme.
Hedora - Japanese - can't stomach "Smog Monster"
Jet Jaguar - American - check
Ghidrah - Japanese - Where did "King Gidorah" come from?? It hurts me.
etc.

It's the name of a rap group -- see

Have a great weekend with Monster Zero!

But every film I've seen with Ghidrah has called him Ghidrah... not King Ghidorah.

They need an album entitled "Destroy All Monsters."
