Hee. I want to live on Gobbler Knob.

Great pictures!

Heh... you said Gobbler.

She said "knob," too.

Danke. I got inspired to post by Eric's "CAUTION, SENIORS!" sign.

They are out there.

I know exactly where you got Street Art #1 from; stop by my house next time you're on that bridge since it is crazy close!

I think I took that last summer when riding home from work. It blew me away that I hadn't noticed the lot of them before, especially since they seemed to be pretty well time-worn.

Gobbler's Knob! Isn't that in Punxatawny, PA? :D

Kentuckiana. Probably within a mile of the home of Capriole cheeses.

In the movie "Groundhog Day", indeed it is!

America is a very strange place.

...and that was a very good movie.

I'm glad the angles didn't come across as pretentious because they weren't at all intentional. ^_^

Seriously though, thanks. It's good to have feedback if only to get some idea that I'm not the only one seeing the things I do. I've been finding the exercise of choosing shots for posts as fascinating as choosing subjects to shoot.

I think you have to worry about the "No Outlet" beneath it...

I secretly love that.

The ice cream that's so good, you have to name it twice.

I imagine that it's pretty rare. The area it's in is very rural. We're talkin' Shelby Foote musing about the Civil War rural...

Oh, yay! I'm so glad you finally posted these! I'm just disappointed we didn't get a full-fledged *squeee* from Ms_N...

I'm guessing it has something to do with these being a long time coming, and something else to do with spoilers. My mistake was telling her I had found LICs.

Cobbler's Knob ... hm... what about Iron Knob?
komos From: komos Date: June 30th, 2005 01:44 pm (UTC) (Link)
Gobbler's Knob. I'm guessing there were wild turkeys there.

Iron Knob sounds much more rugged. A little frightening, even.

*nods* my folks live there. I still remember the incident where a half-drunk hunter was trying to shoot wild pigeons off their backyard clothesline. With a pellet gun. While there was a child playing in the yard. And my mother immediately went round to his place to confront him 0.0

A half-drunk hunter with a pellet gun getting told off by a mom? Very rugged indeed. ^_^

near where i grew up there was a place called Bald Knob- it was one of our drinking spots in high school- and the name always made me giggle.
komos From: komos Date: June 30th, 2005 03:08 pm (UTC) (Link)
I think any place name with the word "knob" in it is bound to elicit giggles. I mean, c'mon... it's a knob!
why_style From: why_style Date: June 30th, 2005 03:11 pm (UTC) (Link)
you really can't go wrong with knob. i don't know if other areas are like this, but central PA seems to have an inordinate amount of knobs. ;)

I blame the Deutsch Dutch.

Hullo, komos!

After using identical icons in npr_junkie, I had to come over here and check you out. And lo behold, not only are we already two degrees of separation away (sun_seed being the common link), we both have The Lost Generation listed in our user interests!

D'you mind if I friend you?

Judy

No need to ask. I'm happy to have you along. ^_^

I have clayrobeson to thank for the icon, and for going through State College to begin with. It was a cross-country trek two years ago as he relocated to the left coast.
