Latecoming BSG geekiness
Did anyone else notice the Firefly class ship landing on Caprica just before Laura Roslin was introduced in the miniseries?

I'm guessing it's old news to the hardcore fandom, but I just started the series over the past few days...

*bows to your dorkdom*

I never noticed that at all. And also, I'm so happy you've discovered the awesomeness of BSG. Whee! ;-)

I was taught by a 10 year-old who sat next to me at a Wang Center showing of the Star Wars trilogy. He said, "If you root for Darth Vader, I'll show you something really cool..."

I was going to anyway, but he still showed me the Death Star stormtrooper banging his head, and it was awesome.

Yeah, when it passed by, I thought, "Wait a minute..."

The profile is spot on, and you can even see the fore-to-aft ribs on the engine. It's pretty groovy.

I took to it in a way that Firefly didn't catch me. It's dark, the writing is fantastic, and it doesn't hurt that the cast is very pretty.

A-ha! My husband had heard tell that there was a Firefly class ship hidden somewhere in BSG, but he wasn't able to find it. There are, um, a lot of ships in that show. :)

I was just tickled by the designs that were lifted from the original. This was a great easter egg, though.

That was pretty much what I thought. Do you know if the special effects were handled by the same shop? They seem to have the same "exterior camera" technique.

pointed here by <lj user="tenillypo">'s comment in <lj user="musesfool">'s journal. Whew!

Randomness:

I'm not sure if you knew this or not, so if not, forgive me. If you liked this, though, you should check out your copy of Serenity again. There's a Galactica ripped up as a Reaver ship, as the crew heads to Miranda, waaaay in the background. Late for work, or I'd point you to screenshots....

I have a vague recollection of it, but it's of something that didn't fully register at the time. I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

Thanks!
