Iron Chef II - A little less than a happy high

Iron Chef II
Iron Chef II will be this weekend assuming that I can firm up attendance. Currently of concern is the distinct lack of confirmed judges. I'm willing to go forward with just for chefs, but I'd rather have a full stable of judges lest the winner be decided by the fickle whims of a single soul. This is the easy job, so I anticipate that someone will step in?

I'll announce the secret ingredient as soon as I have judges lined up. If you're on the fence about cooking, now's the time to speak up because the ingredient does depend to some extent on who's in.

ETA:It looks as though we're set. If there are any other food taboos, let me know as soon as possible.

The lineup :

Competitors
Han
Eric
Tricia
Mike
Drew
Meg

Judges
Scott
Vanessa
Ry Pete

Special Celebrity Guest
Craig

Ok, I'll put you down.

Thanks.

I'd be happy to judge as long as there is no cilantro or coriander used. I was going to be in attendance anyway!

Do you need score sheets? I can make some all pretty with my mad InDesign skillz.

If you want to put something together, that would be fantastic.

Sure thing! Just email me with what you want on there.

There are four categories in which the competitors will be judged, and five points in each: 1) Taste, 2) Creativity, 3) Presentation, and 4) Use of Theme Ingredient.

So, six competitors with the scale in each category with some space for notes. We used scratch pads before, so most anything will be a step up.

hmm. Meg and I can't both cook since we only have one kitchen and we'd probably kill eachother. :D
Since I'm the omnivore I guess I'll drop off of cooking and be a judge.
And yes, I'll be impartial when judging her cooking.

Cool. If you like, I'll put you on the chef lineup for March.

Sounds good to me.
Oh, "battle mushrooms" would be my own personal hell, but other than that I can't think of anything that wouldn't work for me.

All set.

So I noticed!
Interesting theme, I'm very curious to see what people do with that. Not something I'd think of as a main ingredient.

Need a celebrity chef judge? I'm free weekends.

If you come by, I'll do you one better.

2PM, Saturday. ^_^

Are you threatening me?

Only with deliciousness!

Can I just point out that it is terribly unfair to host this on the wrong side of the pacific ocean?

Good luck to all the competitors!

Heh. I like providing excuses for people from exotic places to come visit.

And good food never needs an excuse.

Exotic? Australians? Don't come the raw prawn with me. :p

At this point, Connecticut seems like a pretty exotic locale to me. This is a sure sign that I need a vacation.

...and a pony.

Komos, I humbly withdraw myself from the judging lineup.
I'm sorry to do this at such a late date, but it's really flustering the Meg.
I hope this doesn't screw you up too much. :o(

'Sok. I've got backup.

Are you still coming? Is Meg still cooking?
inahandbasket From: inahandbasket Date: January 12th, 2006 02:55 am (UTC) (Link)
I figured judge was an easy spot to fill. ;o)
Yes, and yes.
prosicated From: prosicated Date: January 12th, 2006 03:24 pm (UTC) (Link)
Indeed I am, but it was getting very hard to plot and plan and test without his knowledge/input. =) I was trying to find other people's kitchens to use and other people's mouths to test on with little luck.
So 4 judges? Bring our owl plates, etc? What's the status of using a burner or stove briefly? Power tools accessible for last minute prep?
komos From: komos Date: January 12th, 2006 04:17 pm (UTC) (Link)
a) Three judges and me along for the ride.

b) Table hardware is entirely your choice. I have some pretty basic white plates, but anything prettier will be coming from your collection.

c) Reheating/final prep is fine. I just can't have 5 people working from scratch because the kitchen will be chaos.

d) What kind of power tool do you need? A drill? A circular saw? A planer?
