II. You're waiting for me to say something to you.
"She is beautiful I think. She has straight dark hair and it frames her face with a blunt fringe. Her eyes are big and the dark eyeliner she wears accentuates them. Her mouth is curious, sort of wide and flat and she seems always to be smoking. I want to take up smoking myself. And I think as I watch her smoke that I shall buy a packet of cigarettes after the screening."
-Mairead Phillips, "How Anna Karina Changed My Life"

"Why must one always talk? Often one shouldn't talk but live in silence. The more one talks the less words mean." -Anna Karina in Vivre Sa Vie

The quiter we are, the less golden silence is.

I just thought about that and I don't know if you can be anymore quiet than someone else. I don't think there are levels of silence. Or maybe there are. Maybe its beyond human comprehension. oOoOo spoooooky

Despite the increasing trend towards codification and standardization, I think there are still things that defy understanding, or at least, defy our ability to communicate our understanding. Language is such a tricky thing...

I don't know that there are levels of silence, but I do think that there are different ways to apply it. I'm fascinated by negative space, if only for the way that it punctuates and shapes how color and sound move around it.
