I've been sorely pressed for inspiration this week, so imagine my surprise when I found something to set my heart racing during a travel show featuring Joan Cusack...

The world of Poilâne

Yeah, there are probably far better offerings available (and there's some fine bread being baked here), but they're quite pretty, and idea of having a four and a half pound Parisian sourdough delivered to my door appeals to me on what I must acknowledge to be a very primal and wastefully romantic level.

In a completely unrelated media incident, South Park had a race of sentient sea otters who asked, "How reasonable is it to eat off of wood instead of your tummies?" I thought this quite brilliant.

There's a store in Montreal that imports Poilane daily. Surely somewhere in Manhattan does as well, but I've been less successful in tracking it down. They're the real deal.

Can't believe I missed the sea otters!

It's about $47.00 to get a loaf dropped on your stoop, and I'm sure there will be a time when I'm feeling flush and very silly that I'll think I just have to have it. Maybe when I have company in town...

Luckily, you can find anything on the intarwebs.

I saw that episode in a fit of midnight-hyperness on wednesday iirc.
It was my favorite SP in quite a long time.

"Kill the wood eaters!"

Joan Cusak would have been enough for me...

(One of the characters in my novel is based on her)

I enjoy the way she sees things, and she looks good.
