But, you like Boston.

...and it's really not that far.

My place. It snowed yesterday, and I've got all the makings for this year's old ale.

Wish I could make it tonight... Alas, I can't; still unpacking and so forth to do.

In recent unpacking, though, I found the bottle of last year's First Snow, and so it occurred to me yesterday that it was about that time again.

(Is last year's still likely to be good? Do I remember right that you recommended letting it age? If so, perhaps I'll crack it open tonight, and join ya in spirit!)

The first snow of 2006 technically happened yesterday, even if it didn't stick, and yes, it is precisely the time. The beer was formulated so that it would age. That said, I have had a couple of bottles that went gusher on me, but of the three cases, only one seemed to actually be off. If it turns out that yours is, let me know and I'll pull another for you.

Chilled, but not ice cold. 45-50 deg. would be best.

How are the new digs?

Sweet. I'll give it a chill when I get home, and enjoy once we've got a quiet moment after hanging stuff on walls (which is the plan for tonight).

The new digs are great, or will be once we're settled in. Though I do have to admit, there's still a certain level of feeling "OMGWTFhouse!" that's present. Painting it as soon as we could has helped a lot to make it feel ours rather than like we're living in someone else's space. Finishing unpacking, though - that'll be the real big step.

We'll have to have you over to see the place. We're planning a housewarming party for sometime - most likely candidate right now is the Saturday of New Year's weekend (the 30th) but that's up in the air, as we haven't confirmed that it works to invite folks yet...

Man, I know that feeling. I still feel like I live in someone else's house, though I suppose that's easier being an apartment dweller and all...

Haven't you lived in your apartment for like, well, ever?

Yeah, I probably have paid off the owner's mortgage. Still, I've never had more than abortive attempts to make it "home." When I was motivated, I kept being thwarted by an uncooperative roommate. Now, I'm not so much motivated.

Congratulations on the house, by the way!

We've been in our place since July and it's JUST starting to feel like our place.

I put it off in favor of a ghetto pot au feu with mique. Probably do tomorrow night instead.

No fair! I heart pot au feu.

Love to, not in Boston.

That seems to be a common problem. :\
