Democracy, at work!
This morning I went to vote in the primary for the special election to fill Senator Kennedy's seat. There were exactly two voters at my polling place, including me. To put this in perspective, there were more moms selling baked goods than there were voters, and volunteer poll workers outnumbered us by 2.5:1.

Edited FOR MATHS!

Was our landlady electioneering?

Yes, and she made a point of asking my address.

She didn't ask me for mine, though she commented on how my name was spelled with a W instead of two Vs.

So far, our district has about 18% voter turnout, apparently that's what they were expecting for the whole day so they are optimistic they'll have an even higher turnout.

who was .25 of a poll worker? (or is it half, math is hard?)

I may have utterly screwed that up. If I had been working on a mission to Mars, I probably would have doomed our astronauts to a horrible Lost In Space remake.

i'm looking forward to seeing half-people at my polling place. and hoping that karen had to deal with no fractional people today. yipes.

I'd guess that half-people would be really disconcerting, or else super bad-ass like Vader ("He's more machine than man, now.")

much to my dismay, the polling place was the usual club of old ladies. they had nametags this time, so i could tell olga from helda and ethel.
