In my world, there are pianos and drums everywhere - A little less than a happy high

In my world, there are pianos and drums everywhere
I've been listening to what I can get my hands on of The Dresden Dolls most of the day and feel like I’ve stumbled onto a well kept secret. It's not unlike finding bondage mags from the 1940's in my grandmother's closet. (Well, ok, that never happened, but it's like the feeling I imagine I would have had if I had found bondage mags from the 1940's in my grandmother's closet. No, really. Stop laughing!) The point is, it seems so utterly preposterous on first glance that I could have known anything, but then seems so utterly preposterous that I did not.

At any rate, this is all by way of saying that I wish I could bring myself to go to their cd release ball tonight. Unfortunately, I feel like a hopeless outsider, an interloper in a world that’s existed but I've not been part of.

Being A little melodramatic, am I? Absolutely... I have nothing to wear. ;P

Enjoy your weekend, folks. May you be free of the crazies.

Current Mood: I need a makeover

The raggedycandy community was the first place I had ever heard of the Dresdan Dolls. Talking about it in my journal I came upon a user who knows them personally- I thought that was great. I love their site too.

Go to the cd release ball!!! Do it for me!
I would love to go.

I wish I had a bear costume so I could go as Planchet from Dumas' The Three Musketeers.

How is it relevant? How can a dancing bear not be relevant?

You should enjoy this, then.

The Noise music 'zine's message board, where the Dresden Dolls have been causing controversy all morning.

Re: You should enjoy this, then.

Reminds me of similar threads I've seen about Bjork.

Nobody got the swan dress, and one of these days, I'll find the picture of Louise Brooks in hers again.

I just started listening to them ohhh... very recently, a couple months ago. She has a wild voice, doesn't she? I love it! !

Yeah, her voice was the thing that hooked me. I really like the way that she can transition from frivolity to urgency so easily, and often within a single piece.

They must be incredible live.

I understand (via the LJ friend who introduced me to the Dresden Dolls) that the singer, Amanda something, is on LJ as kaledrina.
I need a makeover so that I can do such things as well.

Palmer. Sadly, it doesn't appear as though she's posting.

There are times that I wish I was part of the whole art-house set. There are others when I think it would just be too much work. There's a precarious balance that needs be struck between the beautiful and the simple.

I'm still sad I didn't go to the ball. ;)
