A little less than a happy high
What I meant to say...
I skipped class tonight to hang out with my mom, who I see very rarely but was in town on business. Touching base with one of my folks is always a good thing, and a free No Name dinner was a decidedly welcome addition to my week. I got to hear a great deal about her new Audi, she about my discovery about MassArt. Our worlds continue to apace.

Anyway, as I went to leave, she slipped me a C-note with the condition that I buy something for myself. Now, I've bought a fair amount for myself recently, so I could just say "already done" and use it for something sensible like paying my outstanding Somerville parking fines. Or, I could embrace my heritage as a consumer and get toys.

What say you?

You are deserving of toys. TOYS!

This is an unexpected windfall, and you must follow your mother's instructions.

Split it up and use half of it to get toys and half of it to be responsible.

I second this idea.

As parking fines can screw up the renewal of your registration, therefore costing you far more money than just paying the fines (I know this from experience), I say pay the fines, then put aside $25-$50 dollars or so (when you can) until you have $100 saved up, and then go buy toys.

You'll have been responsible and rewarded yourself for it in turn, with a slight delay between the two. It's paying Caesar his due while giving yourself a pat on the back, without having an extra financial worry hanging over your head.

The best of both worlds, in my opinion....

To figure out the solution to problems as complex as this one you have here I would simply choose both. As someone said earlier use half toward a responsible thing and then the other half toward toys. I think you cannot feel too guilty that way and you get toys as well!

Toys. The parking fines were part of a budget, right?

Spend it on a good book, a good meal, and some good drink. That kind of "toy" goes farther towards centering me than any of my electronic whizbangs.

Your mother would want you to buy toys, yes she would.
