A little less than a happy high
As my pen touches the page, my soul pours forth
What is your understanding of faith?

Strange coincidence, you posting this just after I updatewith a link on religion ^^

I suppose with myself that coincidences have contributed towards my sense of faith in some things.

One aspect

Knowing that you have limits; that you as an individual are not omnipotent. There are things you will never know or understand, and you have to accept your ignorance of some things.
There are bigger things than you, whether it be a being, itangible forces, hurricanes, or just that big guy who wants to steal your money.

I don't mean faith is giving up all free will or thought, I just mean it's an acknowledgement of this balance. If that makes sense.

Faith is a hunch.

Faith is the ultimate example of our shared belief system -- either being subsumed by it, or breaking free from it.

Understanding and faith are all too often at odds with one another.

It depends, doesn't it? Are we talking about religious faith or a more generalized faith...

Then again, I guess it is not such a difference after all.

Faith is a belief in something that is not tied to concrete evidence.

Faith is an amalgamation of unyielding hope and a disinterest in scientific fact.

Faith is trust. I have faith in those I love and in said love. "Faith" as obedience, genuflection and worship is slavery with a pretty name.

All the gods are bastards.

I'm suspicious of it.

I'm supposed to have "faith" to take the next step, to accept the guidance and the teachings, to engage in the method. But what I find actually works is a reasonably based belief ... not merely blue-sky speculation, for sure ... but reality-testing; an active inquisitiveness.

How'z 'at?

faith is the most difficult thing to accomplish. it is believing in a universal dignity, when there is no apparent reason to believe, and acting accordingly. it is both a subversion and an affirmation of the individual/self.
