A little less than a happy high
Today I...
...was told by a crazy lady at work (no, not THE crazy lady at work, another one) that I looked like I'd been losing weight. As much as I wish it were true, I think she's wrong.

...brewed this season's Oktoberfest offering. Barring some unfortunate mishap, I should be able to host a gather to watch cheesy HKAT flicks and kick off the brewing season properly. Recommendations for viewing selections and Lord Mayor will be gratefully accepted.

...am still sick. For those of you who are keeping track at home, that's seven days and counting.

...watched a bizarre Japanese film called Suicide Club. Burke, I may need your help making sense of the toe-tapping J-pop because in my reduced state I came away thinking, "Whuh?" and not much else. Well, that and, "I believe the children are our future."

...got my oil changed and my tail light fixed. Sometimes I'm so productive it hurts.

Current Mood: Bugger.

Ooh! How is that movie? I saw the opening scene where those kids jump off the subway platform. It got me all intrigued. I read all these reviews on it and came away with mixed feelings. Thumbs up or down?

I think I was expecting something that was either pure horror or more of a thriller. This didn't really fall anywhere near either. Instead, it just struck me as creepy in a way that seems unique to Japanese new-wave horror flicks. There's some imagery that's worth seeing, if only to experience wanting to laugh, get ooged out, and say "WTF?" all at the same time. That sense starts with the 54 smiling schoolgirls jumping in front of the train and didn't really let up from there. Some of the plot elements didn't make much sense, but yeah, see it and come back and tell me what you thought.

Have you seen The Eye yet?

Sadly, all the movies I've seen lately all fall under the crappy american genre - Van Helsing, for example. *shudder*

You might want to get on a purifying diet of indy films and cheesy HKAT for a while. Van Helsing was pure fluffy poison.

Ah, so I suppose Fanueil Market for lunch is out of the question, eh? Heh.

Thursdays in general are not great for me. Today moreso since I've not left the estate house.

Drop me a line after I stop feeling like a warmed-over corpse?
