I am utterly checked out today. I've been kicking ass at work for… - A little less than a happy high

I am utterly checked out today. I've been kicking ass at work for most of this week, and today it's like I'm too drained from the effort to go anywhere with it. I had a good meeting this morning with Boss 2.0, but aside from that, I keep looking at things and thinking, "Eh."

This seems to be a fairly common occurrence for Fridays, so I've been contemplating the four day week option that's offered. The trick will be convincing the powers that be that it's a good idea.

In other news, with some added tech and recent tweaks, I think I may be able to squeeze another year or two out of my aging PC. Given how cheap machines are going for now, I'm not sure I would have gone through the trouble had it not been for the fact that I haven't had to buy anything yet. Jury's still out on a video card upgrade, but picking up something secondhand may do the trick.

I had a sushi lunch. How are you?

I want sushi lunch!!

Hey, do you have some expertise when it comes to PCs? I'm considering rebuilding mine in an attempt to get it working again, but I haven't researched this stuff since 2001, so my knowledge is old.

I can do basic upgrades and maintenance, and I'm pretty sure I can assemble one from the ground up. I get nervous around trouble-shooting.

What's the problem?

I've got an S3 Savage4, which came as standard equipment with the Presario 5900Z-700. I've now had two programs tell me either that the card isn't functioning properly or that it's just not robust enough to handle their foo (perhaps not in so many words.)

My mainboard (also standard) is an aging FIC board with an AGP slot that I think won't handle anything beyond 2x.

That would be awesome.

Ok, cool.
If I remember correctly, I have a geforce2 sitting around that would be perfectly happy in a 2x agp. If I can find it, it's yours.
Course you'll need to do something for me in return... like show me how to do full grain brewing, as I've only done extracts till now. ;o)

Well, I understand in principle how it's done... I've been an extract brewer so far as well, but all grain sounds pretty easy, really. You just end up needing added equipment and a little more time for the extra step.

Got a 10-gallon pot? ^_^

ah, ok. so I'm not alone in all extract.
No 10 gallon pot and no space to have one it around here. ;o)

If you ever decide to upgrade, head to the kitchen supply store in Chinatown first. They have enormous pots for <$60.

...and panda mugs with a space for a straw. That place makes me happy.

hehe, nice!
I'd like to try it sometime, but from what I hear it's best done outside with a propane burner and a huge pot.

The first time I saw a turkey fryer, all I could think of was "BREWPOT!" Not sure it's big enough for all-grain, but it's a neat and relatively cheap set up.

Sushi is beautiful, delicious, and makes me feel like things are well in my world. ^_^

Things that are done accidentally in my honor make me feel incredible... like I'm at the center of a massive, synchronus web.

Not entirely. I've just been singing and poking my belly thinking deep thoughts and being antisocial needing some time for myself. Thanks for asking, though. ^_^

Re: where is thumbkin?

It's been a quiet month filled with some very noisy internal processes that I didn't want to inflict on you all. Now that the shouting is all but over, I'm going to start poking my head out of my cave again.

And thanks. Me too.
