a) How can you beat something that won a Pulitzer and references Redbones? Or anything by Haruki Murakami or Isabel Allende
b) I recommend listened to anything by Bill Bryson on tape, read by the author. Someone else mentioned Short History of Nearly Everything. I'm reading it now and it's diverting, but not as hilarious as some of his travelogues.
c)Trekkies 2, but mostly for the music (d) and Freaks and Geeks
e) Paula Rego, particularly the Girl and Dog series.
