Beer Brewing Monkeys of Borneo

Sometimes, the bad fae get to it

It broke my heart to dump five gallons of light-struck Belgian last night, but what really tears me up is that I may need to dump the Otter Bomb, too. What was originally a pleasant tang has transformed itself into a rather unpleasant sourness. To make matters worse, after three weeks in the bottle, I don't have even a hint of carbonation. The only thing I can think is that I picked up some kind of bug in the bottling process that ate up all of the priming sugar before the yeast could get to it.

I need not to get discouraged, especially since I realized that in order to hope to have beer ready for Oktoberfest, I need to brew again. Like now. I'm thinking about doing something over the coming weekend, and the kitchen is going to need a serious cleaning. (I'm bleaching surfaces again to be sure.) Let me know if you want to come with.
