The gentleman is always properly dressed

Water flowing underground

I've spent most of the last week sleeping on the couch. Since the Couch of a Thousand Tortures has been replaced by the Futon of Infinite Comfort, this is less of a problem than it could have been. Still, there's something that's not quite right about it. The energy is off. It's a lot like sleeping while camping. My senses have been more attuned, and I've been far more likely to wake up because of strange sounds or odd feelings. I've also been slightly more disoriented each time I've come out of sleep. For a brief moment after I wake, there's a realization that I'm not in my room. I have to think about where I am. It's weird.

Weirder, my rhythms are changing. I don't know if it's the heightened sense of place or just being outside of the clutter (yes, the room is still something of a disaster...), but I seem to be sleeping better and I've been waking up before my alarm. Even while I'm awake, my mind has been quieter. I'm happier to read, and I can only think that it has something to do with needing fewer flashing lights and raucous sounds to drown out the infernal conversation that goes on in my head.

I do have new parts for the frame, and sometime soon I'll get to making the necessary repairs. I'm thinking it might also be worth having a look at the rest of the room, too. Repairs can be made, and bits and pieces that have resisted being sorted out will find themselves with new homes. Has to be done. Has to.

"Hi, I need to find some hospital records..."
"Ok, can you tell me which facility?"
"Sure. There's [Hospital 1] and then there's [Hospital 2], which is in [another state]."
Databases are consulted. "It appears that [Hospital 1] is still operational, so you should be able to get records directly from them."
"You mean you don't have them?"
"No. Have you contacted the hospital?"
"I didn't think of it. How about [Hospital 2]?"
"Well, I'm not going to have any information about that provider since they are out of state."
There is an overlong pause. "You don't have the records from either facility?"
"No."
"What do you people do all day??"

I would think that would be pretty clear...
