A little less than a happy high
On a whim this morning while listening to Melody du Jour on WZBC, I called the station just as a ticket giveaway was announced. Nothing too out of the ordinary here, right? Much to my surprise, the phone rang and I got through on the first try. I won something! I'm a winner! I'm on a radio station guest list!

My adventure doesn't even stop there! When I was talking with Alexandra, I got her laughing with the horrible Americanization of my name. And, for the record, young women with French accents make me go a little woobly. Ok, maybe a lot woobly.

Now, I wish I could say that I scored something that would make me the envy of friend and foe alike, or maybe even ensure my place amongst the "cool kids" once and for all, but I've no such luck. I'm on the VIP list alright, but it's for the 7:30 showing of Capote at the Coolidge tonight.

Go me!

It just occurred to me that the reason why one of the judges found my old ale overcarbonated may not have had anything to do with my processes or a mistake I made. Instead, I think it was because I used rye as part of the malt bill. Unless I'm mistaken, rye and wheat end up supporting great, foamy heads because of the particular proteins that are involved. (Sorry, I can't get more specific... In fact, I'm probably misremembering even that).

I may not have screwed up! It's possible I just confused the judges with an unexpected grain.
