Road Warrior Diaries

I arrived at the office in a rush because of a late start and a slow train. Normally, this wouldn't really be a problem, but this morning I was scheduled to conduct an inservice on confidential data release for a dozen or so colleagues. I scrambled a bit to get everything in order, and just as I was about to rush down the hall to set up my projector, my calendar dropped a reminder onto my desktop:

Vacation, due in 14 hours

While no longer entirely accurate (I need to come back tomorrow briefly to do the second session of the inservice), it felt fantastic to see the reminder.

I'm heading to North Carolina for most of the week. The drive south happens in earnest on Saturday, and from there plans are pretty fluid. It looks like the Outer Banks on Sunday and Monday, with Tuesday through Friday devoted to wandering about inland looking for pulled pork and other tasties. The week will close with a run up to Columbus, OH for Heartland Havoc, the Eastern US Roller Derby Championships (and possibly hooking up with some folks from CTRG while we're there).

If there is anything that you, gentle readers, think is simply not to be missed, I would love to hear from you. Give me your knowin's or company?

Also, and I know this might be a bit of a long shot, but if anyone would be willing to lend your digital camera for the week, I'd be most grateful. I haven't had a chance to replace the Canon, and though we've a film SLR in tow, I confess I haven't the foggiest on how to use it properly.
