Impromptu
Last night marked the season's first outing for Sputnik, and in spite of a bit of panicked scrambling when I learned that we might be nine for dinner, a fire that began to cool just as the meat hit the grate, and a tipped charcoal lighter, we still managed to grill:
The meat came from Stillman's Farm, and I continue to be impressed with the quality of the product from our share. The lamb was particularly delicious.
ETA: This will probably be the year I upgrade from the "fun-sized" grill. Sputnik is generally perfect for a quick dinner for two, but it becomes increasingly difficult to manage as diners are added. I'm also limited in my options for banking fire, setting up smoke, etc.
I will certainly get enough use from it.
- Summer squash and zucchini medallions
- Halved spring onions
- Portabello mushrooms
- Lamb chops with parsley, shallots, olive oil & lemon
- Pork chops with a Carolina rub
