honestly i didn't know there was more than one kind. my guess is that the stuff i get here in VA may well be different from the kind we grew when i was a kid in PA, but there's such a long rhubarb gap between the two that i've not noticed a difference in flavor. good to know though. i'll have to look fo this "strawberry" varietal and taste it for myself.

A short list of rhubarb varieties.

I'm not sure how many of them are marketed commercially. I've only seen one for sale around here, and it ain't strawberry.

Incidentally, this is all in good fun. It's just what we do.

good lord, i had no idea. if that's the short list, i'm not sure i want to see the long one. and here, i thought rhubarb was rhubarb. well, color me bespeckled and call me suzy- all in fun of course :) i think i'll have to consult the matriach and get her thoughts. hahahahaha
