When Pete tried it, he didn't have anything good to say. I'm reserving judgement until it ages a bit. Right now, I'm still thinking "Huh..." every time I taste it.

Shame I can't cask-age something like this, though from what I understand about casks, it would be a very long time before the wood mellowed sufficiently to not be overpowering.

Hmm. I realize I've never thought about this, but now I am filled with curiosity- Where would a home-brewer find a cask for aging? Does the home brew store sell them?

You mean like these? They're available, but spendy enough that you don't usually find them at your average homebrew supplier. I have seen a number of places you can get them online.
