Room available 9/1/06 - A little less than a happy high — LiveJournal
Room available 9/1/06
I know a lot of you have heard, but I'm sharing again. At month's end, Pete will be moving out to start a brand new thing. I'm pretty happy for him, but it does leave me with the small problem of having to find another housemate for the fall. I'll likely be headed to a couple of eljay communities and craig's list with this, but I thought I'd check with you good folks to see if you knew anyone in or coming to the Boston Area who might need a place starting September 1. The apartment is two floors of a 3-story house that was built sometime in the 1830's. It's located a 5-10 minute walk from the 96 bus to Davis and Harvard Squares, and about that from any of the bus routes that fan out of Medford Square. For drivers, there is ample on-street parking with easy access to Rte. 93. Rent is $500 per month + utilities.

I'm happy to discuss the place at length. Drop me a line if you have a lead?

Take this as a sign from the Gods and move to Connecticut.

I've been getting a lot of signs from the Gods of late. I'd have to secure a job first, preferably somewhere I can entrench myself and not be beholden to the fickle fortunes of corporate life.

alternatively, you could move closer in to Davis... i know of a fabulous place with an opening in September.

I'm not entirely sure that I'm ready to move, but I'll bite. What do you know?

at least one and possibly both of our roommates are moving out for Sept. our goal is to be occupying two of the three bedrooms ourselves, but getting in a fabulous roommate and waiting for the other one to leave before c. and i get our own rooms would totally work if it came to that.

you've seen the place briefly... but there are two living rooms (one of which we'd like to be more of a dining room to facilitate dinner parties), big foyer, awesome eat-in kitchen, enclosed back porch, and a rather large for the area back yard that we get the run of, since the landlord only goes into it to mow the lawn. there's also a big composter back there and plenty of space to garden.

rent would be $520 or $565 depending on which room(s) empty out... the one down side is the bedrooms are not large.

It's an idea that certainly has appeal, but I don't know that I could do it for September 1. At the very least, I'm considering that my landlord is going away for most of the month, and I'd really prefer not to spring the idea on him and leave him in the lurch.

Still, the possibility intrigues. When will you know more?

If only I was getting signs to return to Boston...

Le Sigh.

What the hell is up with Pete? I've heard no news!

It sounds more like there are things bubbling up in NoCal for you.

Pete's moving in with the young woman that he's been seeing for some months now. They've got a place lined up just outside of Davis.

If it weren't for being on the upper floors, that'd be Rather Tempting.

I'm about to renew my lease (like today, when I pay this month's rent, rather than consuming the last-month deposit), for rather more money, in a rather more inconvenient location...

(but I can heartily recommend the Davis Sq location bbbsg is about to tout.)

The stairs to the top floor are a bit tricky to negotiate once you've crested the 6' mark. There are all sorts of architectural bits to bang into, as I'm sure Pete can attest...

I guess that would be me. I am interested, Komos - drop me a line (learnedax at livejournal dot com works fine) to discuss it?

I think bunnyroo mentioned this already, but my friend oceanic has an impending Boston move. Problem being that her timeframe is not yet settled. I'll mention your place to her (since I think she'd like you, and I think you'd like her and her cat (the feline, furry quadruped, get your mind out of the gutter, P!)

She did. For what it's worth, the timeframe is potentially negotiable, provided I'm not sitting on an empty room for the next three months.

My new living situation is not turning out so well. (I now have 2 older male roommates I did not expect...living with 3 divorced men over 50 feels a little yucky to me.)

I prefer to live nearer to work, so I'm going to start by looking in the Watertown/Newton area, but I might talk to you further about this anyway, since you are The Awesomeness and would be a rockin' roommate.
