Can I interest anyone in a day of hooky sometime in the next week or so with designs to collect dandelions for winemaking purposes? It would still make for an early morning, since we'd be sneaking into people's suburban yards to steal their weeds.

While we're at it, we can grab some greens for a salad.

i don't like early mornings, but i do know that last year the big strip of greenery along Rte 16 near the police barracks in... Medford? there were tons of dandelions, no sneaking into yards necessary! perhaps on the stretch of it by the amphitheater too.

Mid-morning might work, too...

We'll need a few gallons of flowers to make the batch worthwhile, so I'm guessing there will be a few stops along the way. The areas by the Mystic are possibles with the caveat that I would like to try to avoid harvesting too close to major roadways since I've read that a fair amount of toxins from exhaust can get absorbed and put straight to the flowers.

If I thought they would make it, I would happily send you completely organic dandelion greens from my yard...

Instead, I'll just ask you to drink a toast to Mr. B for me once the wone is made...

It's a shame that it's so hard to ship wines. I just want to share this stuff.

Omg, that sounds like so much fun. I wish I could go, I'd totally play hooky to pick flowers for wine.

Playing hooky may be a bit ambitious. It's just that the coming weekend is looking rather full.

It does sound fun, though.

True, what with IRON CHEF: MEAT! and all. :)

While I can't afford to play hooky, I do have a very, very large urban back yard that I expect will be rife with dandy-lions in the next week or so. I'll be more than happy to collect them for you and bring them to you (if we sprout).

Playing hooky is kind of a pipe dream for me, too. I'm mostly concerned because I missed the season the last two years, and my weekends are looking very full. I may find time a week from Saturday, and if that's the case, I'll definitely take you up on your offer. The wine will need a couple of months to mature, but I'd be happy to send a couple of bottles your way in return.

Glad to see you came through ok. Hopefully the pain and woozy will pass quickly.

I've never had the stuff before, so that would be interesting...and I'd have fun picking the dandy lions anyway. ; )

And thank you.
