Jam sandwiches - A little less than a happy high

Jam sandwiches
I grow more convinced that the late "pressed sandwich" phenomenon is about minimizing required materials. I have had one too many sandwiches in which a single slice of Roma tomato rested atop a similarly anemic accompaniment in each half. While I do appreciate the value of a well-turned sourdough or a thoughtful focaccia, there really should be some substance to be had between the bread, whether it's roast beef or grilled cheese.

My irritation with the anemic pressed sandwich is that often, more expensive than its non-pressed counterpart

SQUISHING GIVES IT $2.00 WORTH OF FLAVOR!

Easily. Plus those grill marks are worth a $1 on their own.

Gas? No. More like an electric press that is never properly cleaned. Fluid hot mayonnaise, little bits of nasty, substandard meat and artificially pre-processed, insect impregnated cheese all spilling into and solidifying onto those little runnels both top and bottom. Mmmmm, wretched, nausea inducing crust.

Sorry, I have pressed sandwich issues and anger at improper deli procedure.

bread is great but so are veggies, cheese and meat

It's such a disappointment to look at a sandwich menu and think, "That sounds delicious!" only to be given something that is nothing more than a pale shadow of a sandwich. I will stand for it no more!

Where is my duck confit sandwich?!?!?!

They have one, but I'm really not sure that dropping $8.00 is worth it considering that yesterday's Beef and Blue had all of two thin slices of meat on it.

Yeah, the indie-rock staff is gone and the sandwiches have suffered.
