Cobwebs fall on an old skipping record
My officially titled Week of Suck is over.

I'm hoping that I can manage to get back to something resembling normalcy now that I've been virtually kicked in the head again. Must start by reclaiming some of my better habits and by dropping some of my more self-destructive ones.

Jim and I will be checking out m.a. schools starting next week. We've been talking about a couple of different styles, and I think our first step will be going to visit the respective schools at which we had previously studied. Might end up with Judo again since it's incredibly cost effective ($40/month) and will get me fit fast. (I will die in the process, and the first few weeks will be an adventure in equilibrium-induced nausea, but this seems to be the way I work...)

At some point, I'll get around to reading through the weeks of posts here that I just haven't been able to get to. I've missed you all in my absence... or at least I've missed the exchange of ideas that happens here. I'll write more soon. Promise.

How are you?

How are you?

My life fucking sucks, but at least I know I'm not alone. Seems like most everyone is miserable this week. I hate the Fall. I hate it so much.

My labor is no easier, but now I know I'm not alone, I find new heart each time I think upon that windy day. And if one day she comes to you, drink deeply from her words so wise. Take courage from her as your prize... and say hello for me.

I actually really like fall. I just wish I could enjoy it properly. As it stands, I've barely been aware of where I am.

Really sorry to hear about the knee. Been through it and it outright sucks. Feel free to give me a call if I can assist (I'm relatively close to you guys and Shelby should have my number) or if you're still planning Simpsons/Buffy viewing.

I'm spending my day trying to decide whether change sucks or if it really can be a good thing. I need some, even if it is painful...

Sam's got a new friend who was a personal trainer in another life, so I'm guessing that I should do something so that our previous situation (her not being able to keep up with me) isn't horribly reversed. ;)

I'm always up for Lesbian Ice Cream (LIC? That's too funny), though, even if it does fly in the face of my Grand Ultimate Plan. If nothing else, it has a wonderfully calming effect....

I'm on it. First order of business will be to actually get there again... Think you might have a chance this week?

And I just joined Le CLub: Juli and I are set to start working out tomorrow.

Good to see you posting again, Love...

You know as well as anyone that August kicked my donkey pretty hard. Hopefully things will get back to some semblance of normalcy. I also hope I can make it back onto some of the friends lists of folks who thought I had gone for good.

No LIC this weekend. We had two opportunities, but neither was entirely appropriate. (Send Ms_E a virtual hug... she was pretty subdued on Saturday.)

How are your arms this morning? Did you work to the point where it hurts to straighten them?
wisdom_seeker From: wisdom_seeker Date: September 9th, 2002 03:44 pm (UTC) (Link)
*attempts to straighten arms* Ouch. Yes, I worked that much. I've actually been rather pleased at the over-all *lack* of achiness today. My legs are fine (did a half hour on the bike yesterday), and I've just got some mild soreness in my biceps and the muscles at the top of my chest under the bones at the base of my neck (I'm having memory problems; are those clavicles?). Juli and I are scheduled to hit the gym again on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. I am *really* trying to make this stick!

I wouldn't expect that the c/v on the bike would make you sore. If you had done squats or lunges or something, that would have been another story entirely.

Not at all surprised about the arms. Were you doing butterfly curls or something?

Judo, eh? Where and when? I've been wanting to take classes of some form... Could you give me a quick blurb on the style?

There's a very good judo school close to Union Square in Somerville. It's in the same building as the Maaco shop on Somerville Ave. They even have a decent number of female students (or did last time I was in...)

The style itself is primarily throws and grappling, and along the way you get a pretty decent understanding of body mechanics and all of the really nasty things you can do to someone if they try to wrestle you to the ground.

If you think that's your thing, I'd also recommend checking out the Aikido school in Porter Square.

I'm tired. So sleepy.

Have you actually been out being social and otherwise having fun? ... or is it just too much Warcraft? ;)
cosmicserpent From: cosmicserpent Date: September 6th, 2002 10:09 am (UTC) (Link)
Oh I've been out and about, having a blast. Per the usual, that's why I'm tired. And yes, there has been Warcraft. ;)

I do so wish I had your social acumen. The best I've managed recently is geeking out with the boys. Color me jealous.

If my big toes weren't fucked up and I could plant properly, I'd so drag your ass back to see Sifu and pony up a donation for the both of us.

Sifu would probably make me eat fish, though. :(

At the very least, he'd probably poke fun at you for not eating meat. ;P

...and then manage to keep a little something on the side so you would have something. He's like that.
