A little less than a happy high
The mallification of Boston continues
Avenue Victor Hugo Bookshop will be closing its doors on Newbury Street after 27 years. Rising rents coupled with undercutting by large chain stores and online auctions have been cited as the main reasons for the decision.

The owner has said that he intends to reopen in a smaller, more affordable location (unlike The Bookcellar Cafe which just closed down completely.) In anticipation of the move, Avenue Victor Hugo will be selling off most of their stock at half off between Thur, Oct 24 and Christmas.
