Global Positioning - A little less than a happy high

Global Positioning
Starting July 11 and for the following eight days, I will be driving with clayrobeson and his stuff in the general direction of the Left Coast. The route is a leisurely zig-zag across the country, with stops dictated largely by placement of friends. Following that trek, I’ll be bumming around San Francisco exploring, relaxing, and otherwise enjoying myself for about a week.

First thing:

If you’d like a postcard from my travels, drop your address here:

Aside from that, if there’s anything you can think of to share (things I must do while I’m in the Bay Area, anything you’d like me to bring you in one direction or another, amusing challenges to make our journey more interesting, etc.) leave me comments.

I'll try to provide more detailed information before our departure. Watch this space...

I said watch it!

Can we do it with a scale model, or will you actually require us to sneak out and swim the bay?

my buddy lived in SF for a bit. i'll see if there is anything "must do" out there beside the obvious tourist spots.

You totally have to go to the Tiki Bar! You will be enraptured by its awesome-itude. I promise.
It's in the Fairmont Hotel in SF.

Up to you... if you send it, it may reach me before I leave, or it may be waiting for me when I get back. Either way, it will be super cool.

Yay! Mail!

anything you’d like me to bring you in one direction or another

I'd like some Marshmallow Fluff (it's not available in the stores here). I'd also like some dried MacIntosh apples from Trader Joe's if you can swing it. :-)

TJ's is ten minutes away. I think I can manage.

(You really want Fluff??)

You have to go to the Haight Ashbury when youre in SF. And lucky you. That's my favorite city in the world. :)

Apparently, that's a fairly common sentiment. Everyone I know who's visited has said that they'd move there in a second if it weren't for the stupid-high rents.

Thanks for the direction.

(Did I mention the stupid-high rents?)

Re: duh

I've not gone yet. I've just been really lax in posting for the past month or so. I'm hoping to have new stuff up in the morning. That and a couple of late responses to posts over the weekend.

I need to get the final itinerary from Clay to post here.

And yes, I'm doing fine. Thanks for thinking of me. ^_^

Haha. I'd ask for a random postcard, but I *live* in San Francisco. Let me know if you need tips on transportation/places/cool stuff and the like. If you do go to the Haight and you have even one iota of the "shiny things!" mentality, there's a store you must go to.
komos From: komos Date: July 9th, 2003 02:14 pm (UTC) (Link)
Go ahead and ask. You might just receive one from as an exotic locale as Columbia, Missouri.

And do tell of the 'shiny thing' store, even though it's likely I'll be so distracted by it that I may not find my way out the door.
