Ex ignorantia ad sapientiam
Do me a favor? List any school, university, or possibly even secret society that has appeared in fiction that you particularly enjoyed. I'm especially interested in those which you at one point or another wished you could have attended/been part of.

The sky's the limit here. I'll fill y'all in later.

I'm assuming you want written fiction, not TV

In the fourth grade, I became addicted to the "Girls of Canby Hall" series. I don't remember if that was the dorm name or the school name (it was an all-girls boarding high school supposedly set in Greenleaf, MA), but I really wanted to go there for high school.

Hogwarts would be cool.

Nah... pretty much anything goes at this point. So long as I have a name and a source, I can use it.

Can you get me a name for the school you mentioned?

Hogwarts, or Cackles, for that matter.
Starfleet Academy
Lone Mountain Women's College (this is now annexed to University of San Francisco, and is used for graduate student housing, the annual ball, guest housing, and stray classes - we used to go ghost hunting up there at 1 am - but it figured in a series of mystery novels dating back from when it used to be an abbey.)
NYC's High School of Performing Arts (as represented by Fame, and which no longer exists as such. It moved to Lincoln Center a while back.)
Chilton, the private school in "Gilmore Girls"

The wacky occultists from Foucault's Pendulum. They couldn't even decide on a name for it, it being a hodge-podge of "ancient societies" and the like (The Tres, the Pendulum, etc).

Anything MU. Go Pods!

SpecOps 27 (Literary Police) from The Eyre Affair and Lost in a Good Book.

Ravenclaw, I guess, from Hogwarts.

Urk. Brain not working. More later?

Delta Delta Delta - It's mentioned in numerous books and movies. Oh wait. I'm already in it. But it wasn't like sororities on TV!

The College in Animal House. Wait. I went there too, but it wasn't like it was in the movie!

The Baby Sitters Club!
