A little less than a happy high
As it turns out, I wasn't entirely off base in freaking out over my latest gift to the fire. The pot I left on the shelf came back not with a matte golden color as I had hoped, but with a thin coat of something that barely tinted the stoneware and actually didn't cover some spots. I'm guessing that since it had been newly mixed, the water content of the glaze was unusually high and as a result, little of the stuff I needed actually clung to the piece.

I'll probably try refiring it after another dip, but I'm honestly not sure how well that works. Since the clay is no longer porous., I would think that it would be sort of like trying to glaze something that had been dipped in wax resist.
